Get a beautiful Show Tail!

I have to admit, I have always had a thing for beautiful tails. It doesn't matter if the horse was born with a full bodied tail, all tails deserve the same care. I could take the skinniest tail and make it bloom with fullness, you just have to spend the time and daily care. Making beautiful tails was my "Beauty Parlor" day, the horses just loved being pampered!
I would suggest to pick through your horses tail to get the shavings and "stuff " out. It is best not to brush it out, you want to preserve the tail hairs as much as you can and prevent less breakage of the hairs.
Their are several products out there that achieve great results, but a good scrubbing with a shampoo and conditioner really does help. After I have cleaned the tail and washed it, I let it dry and then apply a product such as Cowboy Magic or any product that helps to keep the tail from tangling up again.
I would grab just a few tail hairs at a time and work the product in until I have the tail completely done. This might be time consuming, but it always kept my horses tails soft and flowing beautiful, everyday.
If you would like to clip your horse's tail (at the top of the tail on the side of the tail, not the very top) and you don't know how to clip, you might want to think about having your trainer or an experienced horse person help you out. Some horses get nervous from the sound of the clippers and can get startled, so it is best to take precautions!
